Partner, attorney

About Peter

A law degree offers many opportunities.
For me, it meant that I could work with what really interests me. That’s why I’ve always worked with VAT and taxes.
I have an in-depth knowledge of the area from my positions at the Danish Tax Agency, in the auditing world and for the past many years in the legal profession.

Throughout my career, I have become increasingly involved in energy projects and as a result, I have, for example, advised in a large number of cases concerning the utilization of surplus heat. The latest addition is CCS, which is extremely relevant.

Those around me say I am a bit of a would-be engineer because I have a keen interest in technology, for example in relation to energy production and supply. This is very important when it comes to finding the most optimal solution to a challenge. Business development and an innovative approach to both large and small assignments is what really motivates me.

As a lawyer, my background means that I have an in-depth knowledge of the tasks traditionally performed by the accounting profession, such as review and modelling tasks.
When it comes to traditional legal work, my core competences are legal analysis, drafting contracts and handling conflicts – both for companies and public authorities.

At Hulgaard Advokater, I specialize in energy and utility law, VAT and taxes, and I have management responsibility in a number of cases within tax law, tort law and commercial and company law.

What skills do you need in your job?
My role is often to be a sparring partner with our clients and my colleagues, where I draw on my personal and professional competences.

As a person, I emphasize having strong and good relationships with colleagues, customers, business partners and authorities. My approach to the world is based on honesty and integrity.

My personal competences are always in play, as I believe that most good solutions are based on a clear understanding of the needs my clients or colleague requires a solution for. In that process, it’s all about making the complex simple. I therefore believe that the ability to listen is a fundamental prerequisite for providing the best advice. When the need is clearly identified, it turns out that the solution is not always legal.

Professionally, I am motivated to develop holistic solutions that incorporate business development and an innovative approach to solving cases.

My professionalism is based on many years of experience in legal analysis and conflict management, combined with my skills in economic modelling and technical understanding.

What do you particularly enjoy about your work?
The best moments in my work are when I, together with clients and colleagues, discover completely new angles in a problem because we insist on understanding the problem in depth and we succeed in bringing new value-creating ideas and solutions into play.

An essential driving force for me is to help develop and motivate others, including listening and understanding other people and creating meaning for them.

What do you appreciate about working at Hulgaard Advokater?
I particularly appreciate the firm’s rock-solid set of values, which over the firm’s more than 25 years has ensured great value creation and quality of advice to customers.

In addition, Hulgaard Advokater puts people at the centre, where decency and mutual respect are a matter of course. Having motivated and happy employees and customers is simply crucial to achieving our goals as a company.
