I graduated with a Master of Science in Business Administration and Commercial Law (cand.merc.jur) from Aarhus University in 2023, after which I started as a Commercial Law Associate at Hulgaard Advokater on 1 August 2023. However, I have been part of the Hulgaard team since 2021, when I started as a student assistant.
 
During my bachelor’s program, I focused on labor law and environmental and energy regulations relevant to business operations. Additionally, I interned at Hulgaard Advokater during my master’s program in 2022. This gave me the opportunity to follow cases more closely from start to finish and provided me with valuable insight into post-graduate professional life.
 
My academic background from Aarhus University has equipped me with strong methodological skills. The interdisciplinary combination of law and economics is ideal, as it enables me to address both legal and financial challenges that companies and individuals face. 
 
As a Commercial Law Associate at Hulgaard Advokater, I work across a wide range of cases with the goal of gaining experience in as many of the firm’s practice areas as possible.
 
However, I primarily work with cases related to tax law, corporate law, and marketing law.
 
I am mainly based at the Kolding office, but I also occasionally work at the Aarhus and Ballerup offices.

Why did you choose to study cand.merc.jur?
Before choosing cand.merc.jur, I strongly considered studying law. However, I have always had a great interest in economics—both from a business and societal perspective. Cand.merc.jur is an education that combines business administration and commercial law. This way, you learn to solve both legal and financial issues that companies face. The education was the right choice for me because it offers “the best of both worlds.”

What does a typical workday look like for you?
A typical workday starts with checking my emails. Since I have several ongoing cases, it’s important to maintain a good overview. After that, I continue working on cases based on agreements with the respective lawyers.

What skills are important for your job?
You need to be able to apply the law, both theoretically and practically. With my legal and economic background from university, I am also able to view and understand cases from a broader perspective.

What do you particularly enjoy about your job?
The opportunity to apply theory in practice. After many years in school, it’s motivating to put the theory—covered in countless lectures—into action. It helps create a deeper understanding.

What do you appreciate about working at Hulgaard Advokater?
Besides having the best colleagues, it is definitely the opportunity to gain the practical experience I’ve dreamed of and that helps me grow professionally.

When I’m not at work…
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also love working out and unwind with a bike class or reformer pilates.
